Thank you for your support!
I‘m running for International Needs, a worldwide Christian partnership that seeks to bring lasting transformation and support to people and areas of great need regardless of race, religion or gender.
The money raised will go towards their new clean water and sanitation campaign within Africa.
--
The United Nations has placed access to clean water and safe sanitation as number 6 of the 17 new sustainable development goals from 2015 onwards:
- In Africa it is estimated people use 40 billion hours a year in walking many miles to find safe water and carry it back home.
- Every day about 1,400 children die from water borne illnesses linked to poor sanitation.
- Over 40% of healthcare facilities and hospitals in Africa do not have access to clean water.
- In most rural communities a toilet within the home is rare, for example in Uganda 65% of Ugandans have no toilet.
Families cannot lift themselves out of poverty without access to clean water and sanitation. The money raised will help build toilets and bore new fresh water wells which will be a boon for health conditions, reduce child mortality and vastly improve the lives of the many thousands of families with whom International Needs works.
