Story

Thank you for visiting my page.

On September 11th 2016, I will be attempting to complete an Ironman Triathlon. An Ironman is one of the toughest one day triathlons you can enter, consisting of a:

  • 2.4mile (3.8km) open water swim
  • 112mile (180km) bike ride
  • 26.2mile (42km) run
With a maximum time limit of 16.5 hours in order to be crowned an Ironman!

As well as trying to become an Ironman, I will also be trying to raise money for a worthy cause; Keswick Mountain Rescue. Having visited the lake district all my life and recently spent some time training in the mountains, I have seen the great work the organisation does. Luckily I have never required their services however it is comforting to know they are always on hand!

The team comprises of 45 members, all unpaid volunteers, who are available 24/7, 365 days per year, to assist those in distress and lost on the mountains of the Lake District. Currently, they turn out to around 140 callouts each year. Donations will go to keeping equipment up to date and ensure volunteers are trained.

Training is going well, and I am now both petrified and excited for the big day. I am looking forward to jumping into the sea and getting things started. The 11th will bring with it a years worth of training that has seen me peak at swimming, cycling and running around 300km a week in order to prepare for the big day!

Any pennies you have to spare, would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Mark
