Story
We’re delighted to tell you that Misty’s operation to remove the large tumour like growth and her inner ear canal was a success. Misty is being given pain relief and lots of tlc to ensure she makes a speedy recovery. We have a loving foster home lined up so she can be given round the clock care over the next few days.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to Misty’s Appeal. We have been overwhelmed with your kind words for Misty and indeed your generosity.
Any extra money donated will now go to helping care for other animals like Misty who find themselves in need of emergency care and treatment.
In the space of just one week, this little dog has found herself abandoned by her carers, without a home and in need of emergency surgery.
The seven-year-old black and tan Yorkshire Terrier was brought to our Godmanchester Centre a few days ago by a group of men who were prepared to abandon her on the street because a relative could no longer care for her.
She was riddled with fleas, her skin red and sore and her once shiny coat in a poor condition but worst of all she had a huge cauliflower like growth spilling out of her left ear.
And that’s why we’ve named her marvellous Misty. Despite the pain and discomfort she must be in with numerous medical conditions which have been left untreated for years, Misty remains a bouncy, friendly girl who is willing to put her trust in anyone who will give her the tummy tickles she loves.
Since her arrival at Wood Green, Misty has been given the round the clock care she deserves. Our veterinary team have carried out thorough medical examinations and tests and the large tumour in her left ear is fortunately operable. Misty needs a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA) or removal of her inner ear canal.
This is a very painful procedure to recover from and Misty will need several days of pain relief, antibiotics and gentle bathing as the wound heals and recovers.
As well as the emergency surgery, Misty will need treatment for her skin and hair loss, fleas and treatment to clear up her infected right ear. She also needs a dental, to be spayed and microchipped.
Misty has a long way to go before she can be rehomed to a loving new family but your support can help her on that journey.
Whilst we do have funding for major operations, our resources are very limited. The total cost of Misty’s operation and aftercare is going to be around £2,500. We urgently need donations from our supporters to help us fund this essential operation.
If we reach our fundraising target, any additional funds will be used towards the treatment and care of other animals like Misty.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
