Story

As teachers ourselves, we are convinced of the value of education, especially to those whose access to it is restricted.

Hilary's school, Berkhamsted,  has a long-established link with Sandi School in South Africa and, in addition to other initiatives, has set up a Teaching Bursary Scheme. This  enables a talented Sandi student, who would not otherwise be able to do so, to complete a four-year teaching degree at the Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha. Our first Bursary student, Phelisa Khalazani, graduated in 2013 and is now working at another school in the Eastern Cape. Our second student Godlo graduated in early 2015 and, at the time of writing, is working at Sandi School. We are currently supporting three other students at various stages in their studies. Any additional funds we can raise will enable more students to acquire this opportunity to benefit not only themselves but also their communities.
