Fundraising for The Christie
Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
This page has been set up in memory of my late husband Matty Newall, who passed away on the 27th April 2008. Matty was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2007, 6 weeks after our 3rd child Scarlett was born. Initially Matty was only given a few months to live but through the chance given by The Christie, to receive chemotherapy that he had been refused elsewhere, Matty actually went on to live a further 6 months than expected.
The Christie do some amazing work day in day out through research and the care they provide. I would like to help raise as much money as possible to help them continue this work and I am grateful to all donations that are pledged.
The first two targets I set out to achieve have been smashed and this is not including all the other justgiving pages out there supporting this cause (in total exceed £150,000!!!)
BIG NEWS!!! After a 4 year break and back after popular demand we held our 5th Matty Newall Cocktail Ball on the 21st May 2016 at The Chester Race Course. This event was a huge success and raised over £15,000 and took the total raised to over £150,000. In addition to the ball we were also given the opportunity on the 24th June to do a bucket collection at The Chester Race Course. We were again amazed by people's generosity and raised £1700 - taking our total to over £153,000 raised to date.
The next event now will be The Great North Run. This was my 1st real fundraiser after losing Matty in 2008 and holds a special place in my heart. This year will be my 7th time running this race and I will again be supported by my husband and supportive friends.
I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last 8 years. I could not have achieved half the things I have since Matty passed without this & the continued support of my friends..
