Story
I've now raised money for Family Nursing and Home Care on two occasions in 2016 - the Dandara Colour Fun Run, and the Mourant Ozannes Relay Race.
The Colour Fun Run was the first time I had ever taken part in a charity public run and, as a way of thanking the charity for organising the event which increased my confidence when running, I organised a team for the Mourant Ozannes Relay Race- "Sisters with Blisters". We raised £720 for the charity through fundraisers that took place over summer and from kind donations from family and friends, and completed the marathon between the five members in 04:05:11- an amazing time for a team of 15-17 yr olds.
I only started running longer distances in May 2016 such as 5K's at ParkRun, and gradually increased my distance so I could run in the Jayson Lee 10K race in August, and then I ran my 9.2K leg in the Relay Race in October.
My next challenge is to run my first half-marathon. If Family Nursing and Home Care hadn't organised the Colour Fun Run, I wouldn't have ran as much as I did since May 2016 alongside playing football and continuing with my A level studies - and if you know me well, you'll understand why I'm so grateful to have found running. It has helped me with my fitness for football and has definitely aided me with my mental well-being.
Please help me raise some more money for this great charity as my way of saying thank you for giving me the opportunity to try new things and become a healthier and happy person. Also, the Jersey Government has cut funds to the charity which means they need all the help they can get to keep providing essential care for Jersey's young and elderly. Thank you.
