‘If one of us cannot visit it [Al-Aqsa], what should we do?’ He, (saw) said, “Then he should make a gift of some oil to be lit therein [in its lamps]. For indeed the one who gifts this to it, will be like the one who has prayed therein”’. (Ahmad)
Al-Aqsa Mosque, which served as the first qiblah and the place from which the Prophet (saw) ascended into the heavens, is second only to Makkah and Madinah as one of the holiest sites in Islam.
Although we may now be a global ummah, scattered all over the world, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is an important part of the Islamic heritage we all share and it is a duty on us all to preserve it.
Muslim Hands has been working with the Al-Aqsa Waqf since 2008. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have carried out major maintenance and renovation projects including rehabilitating the sewage infrastructure, installing a brand new announcement system and renovating wudhu areas and toilets.
This Ramadan we are appealing to you to fulfil the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) and light Al-Aqsa. As well as replacing the thirty-year old lighting system, we also need your help to construct a brand new wudhu area for women located right next to the Masjid al Qibli and to provide 2,000 meals for the fasting every iftar.
