Story
On 2 July 2016 we will be running in the Zermatt Marathon: http://www.zermattmarathon.ch/index.php?id=3&L=1
When we got married on 8 August 2015 in Sofia, with many of you there to celebrate with us, the person missed the most was Greg's sister Caroline, who was bravely fighting cervical cancer. Unfortunately, despite her very best efforts and wonderful support from many people, she lost her battle in December.
This is Nady's first marathon experience and in her effort to make it a brave one, it will be a trail half-marathon at altitude: 21km in length, grinding up from 1,626m to 2,585m. Greg will prove that he has not learned from experience by running the ultra (45.6km from 1,116m to 3,089m) for the third year in a row - aiming to take off another 12 minutes and beat 5hrs 45mins.
We have chosen to raise money for Jo's Trust (https://www.jostrust.org.uk/), a charity focused on providing information and guidance for cervical cancer sufferers and their supporters: Caroline was particularly appreciative of their work, and some details of the inspiration she found from Jo's Trust and from others can be found on her blog (https://bakingbetter.co.uk).
We're running to pay tribute to Caroline's strength, determination and relentless positivity, which were an inspiration to all those of us who were lucky enough to know her. We're also running because we know just how fortunate we are to be able to do so, and because Zermatt is a very special place for us.
