Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in an 8 week training program in preparation for the final fight night on Friday 10th June. I will be taking part in a boxing match which will last 3 x 2 minute rounds.
I am raising funds for The Anthony Seddon Fund as this charity was set up by a mother who lost her son to suicide and the wonderful support they provide for people suffering with mental health issues is fantastic. Plus ALL funds they receive are solely used for their charity as all their staff are volunteers!
I am also raising funds for a non profit organisation Noahs ART who rescue animals and train them as therapy animals to work with their local community to improve peoples lives.
UPDATE: I hadn't initially posted the reasons for supporting these charities but feel that it is only fair that people should know why these mean so much to me. I had a less than standard upbringing and went through things that no child should go through (thankfully not all of it as I lived with my dad until he died). As a teenager I gave up all hope and tried to commit suicide on a number of occasions which left me feeling even more of a failure, as I couldn't even get that right!! I have suffered throughout my adulthood but have never really let on (my dads get up, wipe off your knees and get on with it attitude!! Thanks dad!!) until I had a massive mental breakdown some years back and I am now the best mentally that I have ever been! I wish I had had somewhere like the Anthony Seddon Fund throughout my life and after speaking to some their clients, see the massive impact that they have on their everyday lives. Noahs ART also work with people with mental health problems aswell as other clientele and I have found my rescue animals to be very beneficial over the years (I'm a big softy inside!!) and the fact that they use rescue animals is a massive plus for me.
I hope you can find even one pound to donate to these fantastic charities who help fantastic people. Mental health issues can strike anyone at any age and we need more of these local charities doing the hands on work with local people!!
