Tom, Beth and I will be taking part in Parallel London. Beth will be running the 100m while Tom and I will be doing the 5k.
Electric Umbrella are challenging the perception of people with learning disabilities by empowering and enriching lives through music.
Electric Umbrella is an all-encompassing music project for adults with learning disabilities and is based in Hertfordshire.
Electric Umbrella works with professional musicians to offer the following music experiences to adults with learning disabilities:
Weekly music sessions, incorporating songwriting, recording and performance.
Inclusive club nights “The the product of months of hard work, weekly sessions and even a rock’n’roll promo tour! It’s a gig, it’s an arts event, it’s a sensory explosion, it’s a celebration. It’s loud and proud, bold and beautiful.”
Performance opportunities at day services, schools, festivals, local businesses and organisations, busking and radio.
Access to gigs and shows
Electric Umbrella sessions and experiences are tailored to include and maximise participation individuals, however complex and limiting their needs might be.
Electric Umbrella seeks to raise the profile of learning disabilities and increase access to both work and social opportunities within the mainstream arena.
