Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Let's raise some money for Wessex Heartbeat with a ginger & white beard! It won't be pretty, but it is in a good cause: let's save someone's life together?
A is a 27 year old man who lives and works with his family on the island of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean. In February 2016 he remembers having severe pain in his chest and neck one evening which lasted for a few hours and made him feel very unwell. In the UK he would have called an ambulance or gone to A&E, but he didn’t have access to this type of care on the island.
He didn’t know it then, but A had had a large heart attack that night. It went untreated and, as a result of not having access to modern treatments for heart attack, has caused significant damage to his heart. In order to help him, he needs to have some specialised tests to decide how we can best treat his heart to protect it from further damage, as well as a collection of tablets to help his heart function.
The damage to his heart is already causing him to have symptoms and without the correct treatment it is inevitable that A will become unwell and not live a normal lifespan.
A has come over to the UK with the help of English friends in order to try to access the specialist tests and treatment that will save his life: these things are just not available to him back home… unfortunately he is not entitled to healthcare in the UK, so in order to help him, with the full support of Wessex Heartbeat, we are attempting to raise £10,000 to help fund the specialist tests and treatment which could protect this young man's life.
Please donate to help protect A’s life and future.
Thank you
