About Our Fun Day
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page of the North London Branch of the Overseas Fellowship of Nigeria
Christians (OFNC).
On 30 July 2016, we are hosting a fundraising Fun Day to raise funds in support of two causes:
1. Victims of the Boko Haram violence in Northern Nigeria
2. Sickle Cell disease research
Even if you are unable to be with us in person that day, we would value your most generous contribution to our endeavour. My the Lord bless you in all you do.
Supported Charities

Further Information
Boko Haram is an Islamic extremist group operating in northern Nigeria that has killed up to 20,000 people and displaced about 2.3 million people from their homes since 2009. The funds raised by the OFNC this year will be spent on providing food, clothing and shelter for internally displaced people (IDPs) as a result of the Boko Haram violence.
Sickle Cell disease is a genetic blood disorder that is common among people of African and Carribean descent and produces symptoms such as chronic anaemia, unpredictable pain, fatigue and jaundice. According to official statistics, the prevalence of sickle cell is highest in sub-Saharan Africa and up to 230,000 affected children are born in this region every year (Rees et al, 2010). Part of the money raised this year will be used towards funding research into improving the care for people with SCD and reducing the overall mortality rate.
