At the age of 3, Ollie was diagnosed with LCH cancer in October 2015. He has a tumour on his leg and 2 leisons on his skull.
Since Ollie diagnosis CWCF Polgate have granted Ollie, his brother Ashton who is 6 and his parents with a wish each and have supported them emotionally as Ollie undergoes chemotherapy. The work the charity does to support children and families is incredible and your support to enable them to continue helping children with cancer would mean a lot to us and everyone that knows Ollie and his family. After Gail and Anna have ran the Hastings half, Gail will continue training to run the London Marathon in April.
It started in May2015, when Ollie begun walking with a limp and complaining of leg pain. Several trips to the doctors were made and ollie was turned away with doctor dismissing it as growing pains. Ollies parents were not convinced. As the months went on, the limping got worse and the pain was more intense causing Ollie sleepless and distressing nights. Eventually ollie was refered to a consultant but the appointment was in October. By September Ollie had a lump appear on his head, which doctors told his parents was a cyst. Ollie at this point could not walk or run and was tired and pale. He could not participate in normal 3 year old activities. Again after a visit to the doctors Ollies parents were told to wait for the consultants appointment in another 6 weeks. They were told he could not be seen quicker. Another lump appeared on his head and eventually after Ollies mum refused to leave the doctor surgery they refered him to Conquest children's outpatients where doctors suspected Ollie had arthritis. They finally x-rayed him and the results showed a possible tumour or a bone infection. They said they would mri scan him in another 4 weeks.
Ollie was becoming extremely ill and was losing weight, his parents could not wait for 4 weeks so took themselves for a MRI scan at Harley Street Clinic in London. Ollie was admitted straight away and hooked up to Iv antibiotics for 2 weeks whilst he had several tests and scans. Eventually they diagnosed Ollie with single cell multifoceal LCH which acts and is treated like cancer. Ollie is now currently been treated by the NHS under Great Osmond Street with steroids and chemotherapy and has a long road ahead of him. Since Ollies diagnosis the treatment and care Ollie has had from the NHS has been excellent.
Ollie is a happy smiley boy and is doing well taking it all in his stride. He has experienced what no 3 year old or any child should go through. No family should go through this emotional journey and watch their child of brother suffer like Ollie is. CWCF means a lot to Ollies family so please support them help more children and their families. Thank you xxx
