We fund research and raise awareness to create a world free from meningitis

Story

REASON & GOAL

My aim is to raise a minimum of £30,000 for the Meningitis Research Foundation. When I was 18 months old, I was diagnosed with Meningitis. Luckily the doctors caught it in time, and I only suffered total deafness in my right ear and profound deafness in my left ear. The vaccine for that strain of meningitis (Hib) was brought to the market about 3-6 months after I contracted the illness, so I strongly believe that the more money and awareness that one can raise, then the less hardship people can suffer.

THE CHALLENGE - "ONE BIG YEAR"

In order to raise money for MRF, I have devised a strenuous year of physical challenges which I have termed as "One Big Year".  The events that I will be attempting are:

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
