Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In February 2008, our 20 year old son Richard died in an accident.
Our son was dead and our daughters Anna and Rebecca had lost their brother. At that moment in time we became members of a group that nobody wants to be part of – bereaved parents / siblings / grandparents.
Richard had a love of the outdoors and his many activities included golf, charity walks, camping, canoeing, sailing and mountain biking. Richard also spent a number of his Easter holidays as a volunteer on trips to Lourdes with Wirral charity CTK HCG, supporting young people. In addition to all of this, he also loved socialising!
We are cycling, Noel on Richard’s bike, with a group of bereaved parents and friends on a journey of about 278 miles from Bristol to Liverpool on river and canal paths on Saturday 21st May – 28th May 2016 to raise funds for The Compassionate Friends.
The Compassionate Friends is a Charity which enables anyone in our position to come together to seek help and support anytime they choose and for as long as they want. It is through this charity, especially when we are at our most desperate, we come to realise that we are not alone.
This organisation has supported us since Richard’s death and exists to support any family who experience the devastation of losing their child and desperately needs help and support.
