Our Mont Blanc Mission, 9 July 2017
We are a volunteer search & rescue team to assist those lost/injured on the fells

Story

In 1938 my Grandad climbed Mont Blanc with his mates and didn't quite reach the summit because of horrendous weather.

In 2013 I had an attempt and had to come off the mountain because of avalanche risk. This is unfinished business.

In July my mountain guide (the one and only Russell Willett) and I are giving it another go, armed with my Grandads old ice axe. We are on a mission to get his axe to the top and finish the job for him.

We are doing this in aid of Penrith Mountain Rescue team. All of the team members are unpaid volunteers, willing to respond any day of the year in any weather. Russell and co respond to 40+ callouts a year and are on call 365 days per year, 24 hours per day.

Grandad was from Penrith and a keen mountaineer - Im sure he would approve of us raising money for the mountain rescue team. They are amazing people... show them your money. Thankyouplease!
