Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The driver for our canoe challenge in support of the RMHC is that our first grandchild (Bella) spent the first 5 weeks of her life at the hospital. During this time, my daughter and her partner (Keely & Darrell) had the opportunity to stay with Bella for the whole 5 week period as the charity provided them with housing in one of the Ronald McDonald bedrooms.
Unfortunately due to complications, Bella needed further treatment including another 2 operations & spent 6 more weeks in the Hospital, again during this time Keely and Darrel were provided with accommodation by the RMHC. The good news is, Bella is now home and well, allowing Keely, Darrell and Bella to restart the long awaited normality of family life.
We as a family now want to help raise lots of money for the charity so that they can continue to help and support other families who are going through the same sort of issues and dilemma that Keely and Darrell faced.
So what are we doing?
A team of ten of us, (the 2 granddads, Bella's dad, Uncles and a few friends) will be canoeing 70 miles from Oxford to Windsor in 5 Canadian canoes over a 2 1/2 day period on 8th, 9th & 10th July.
- Day 1 : From Osney Marina, Oxford, canoeing 27.5 miles, tackling 7 locks, finishing at Goring
- Day 2 : From Goring, canoeing 26.4 miles, tackling 11 locks, finishing at Hurley lock
- Day 3 : From Hurley we then canoe the last 15.6 miles, tackling 6 locks, finishing in Windsor around 13:00
So we are now looking for your support and sponsorship to help us achieve our goal, your donations all count no matter how large or small, please support this great cause.
