Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Between 2004 and 2010, I and various friends joined hundreds of other humans running through London to raise funds for the few mountain gorillas left in the wild, along with the lowland gorillas which are also now critically endangered.
We had a lot of fun, and raised over £7000 - overall the Runs have raised over £2 million - but much more is still needed to help these Great Apes, so after a few years' off (largely due to date clashes), Team Ōzaru is back.
It's worth noting that much of the money goes to support the human communities around the gorillas' habitats in a sustainable way. For details (and some cute gorilla pics) visit www.gorillas.org. There are lots of pictures and videos of each year's run online at www.greatgorillarun.org and elsewhere. You might also enjoy the 'parody' videos we made in 2007 (Phil Collins/Cadbury:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=isJ3ZJAogxY) and 2008 (The Wombles: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af-_ukiLgTE).
Donating through this website is quick, easy, secure, and the most efficient method of sponsoring us, as the Gorilla Organization gets your money faster. If you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure Gift Aid gets added automatically. Those outside the UK can donate just as easily. Tax-deductible corporate sponsorship is most welcome too! (Why not include a link to your website in the comment area?)
We'd like it even better if you joined in - find details at www.greatgorillas.org. It's not just running - you could do abseiling, skiing, or loads of other things (but it's all got to be in gorilla suits, of course). There are plenty of events outside the UK too...
