Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Aphasia is a language disorder that can be acquired through damage to the brain, caused by stroke and similar trauma.
It can cause problems with memory, or in more severe cases the loss of speech and the ability to read and write, but it does not affect intelligence.
It wasn't long ago that I'd never heard of Aphasia, but it's a condition that my family have become all too familiar with, since my father suffered a stroke.
NETAs support has been instrumental in helping my parents through many of the adjustments they have found themselves facing.
NETA is a charity which aims to support people with aphasia and their families in the North East. NETA does this by funding the NETA Aphasia Support Centre, which offers long terms support to people with aphasia, offering opportunities to take part in a variety of groups.
NETA also aims to raise awareness of aphasia in the general public as too few people understand what aphasia means.
They are a fantastic regional organisation, and they deserve our support.
