**UPDATES 28.03.12**

Finally I'm updating the site....soooooo sorry it's taken so long!

Firstly, I just want to say a huge thank you for everyones continuous support to help raise such a fantastic amount!

Secondly, a brief highlighlight of some of the fantastic efforts that have been made to keep raising awareness and money for the charity.

On December 2nd, we held our second Charity Snow Ball!! This year it was held at the Leicester Tigers Ground and was a huge success!! The evening was my favourite event so far!  It gave a chance for Paul's family and friends to celebrate their hard work over the past 18 months and also remind everyone why we are working so hard to raise awareness and money for this amazing charity!!

We were also lucky enough to have Ian Watson, a charity representitative, to speak on the charities behalf and remind everyone of the important work that the charity does!

The turn out for the night was amazing and we have since had many requests for a future Snow Ball!  The event would not have been the success it was without Paul and Caroline Vissani, who worked tirelessly to put the event together...I can not thank them enough!!

The Snow Ball raised an incredible £2800, and despite what the total on the website says, took the total money raised to over £30,000!!

Towards the end of 2011 a charity bingo night was held by Sharon Muggleton and others including Paul's mum, Gwyn and raised a fantastic £450 for the charity!

Throughout 2011, many of Paul's family have been involved in carboot sales, and craft sales...working incredibly hard to create a variety of gifts to sell at local craft events.  Every time I go to visit them on a Thursday night for craft club they are hard at work making something new!! I admit I tried to learn how to knit to help with the production....but failed miserably!! Sorry Grandma Huddlestone! Their fundraising and support throughout the year has been incredible, thank you so much!

** UPDATES!!!**

Thank you so much to Burton Lazar's art club who held an art and craft fair in pauls memory and raised a fantastic £500 for pc uk and a further £700 for pancreatic cancer research!

Also a huge thank you to Pete Bullock, one of Pauls closest friends, who wrote a book in memory of Paul...and other things! A hilarious account of him and Paul growing up as well as funny tails of his difficulties with cars.

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at St Francis Primary School, who took part in our Sponsored Walk and helped to raise a total of £3200!! This has been split between Pancreatic Cancer UK and LOROS, so adding £1600 to our fundraising!!

I would also like to say thank you to everyone who braved the cold weather to attend our Charity Snow Ball which raised at total of £2400!! This has been split between Pancreatic Cancer UK and Help for Heroes, so adding £1200 to our fundraising!!

Finally I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended the Haloween Bingo at Hoby Village Hall which raised a fantastic £275!!

Thank you so much to everyone for all their incredible support, I cannot tell you how much it means to me!!

When creating this page justgiving gave me advice on what to write, how to tell my story, or in this case Paul's story.  As much advice as they have given, this is the hardest story I have ever had to tell, so please bare with me....

Paul until recently was fit, healthy and took great pride in his appearance.  He had a shy nature, but a very witty sense of humour that was loved by all.

Paul's life was just beginning, having just bought our first home together and more recently we got engaged.  Paul was dedicated and worked hard to turn his dreams into a reality; our home, his cars and his job.

Paul had many friends in all aspects of his life who he treasured greatly.  But, no matter what happened, it was Paul’s family that always came first.  His mum Gwyn, dad Phil, sister Emma and his Grandparents, to name but a few.  He loved them all very dearly.

He had his dream job working for Triumph Motorcycles as bikes had been a passion of his for much of his life.  His job took him all over the world; Italy, Germany, Romania, Thailand and most recently Japan.

It was on his return from his trip to Japan that we realised that something wasn’t right.  Paul developed what we thought to be Deep Vein Thrombosis, but after many tests we learnt that this was just a symptom of what had really been going on inside.  Paul was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

Although we were shocked at the diagnosis, we were given hope that with Chemotherapy starting quite promptly, the prognosis could be bright.  However, Paul was re-admitted to hospital the following week.  Our optimism began to fade.  Later that week, Paul was moved to LOROS, a local hospice, where he was cared for brilliantly, all the staff looked after his every need and made sure he was comfortable and not in any pain.

On Tuesday 22 June 2010, just 15 days after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Paul lost his incredibly brave battle.

Before Paul, myself and many of the people who were close to him had no idea of how serious pancreatic cancer is and how young it can strike.  The doctors told us that Paul was ‘one in a million’.  It is our aim to raise the profile of this silent killer and to raise £10,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK  to help stop someone else being that ‘one in a million’.  Over the next year, many people who knew and loved Paul will be taking part in many events to raise money; Sky Diving, The Great North Run, Fun Runs, Charity Auction and many more...details of which I will post when they are confirmed.

As hard as it has been to loose my best friend, I as well as Paul’s family and friends believe that something good has to come out of our tragic loss.  Please donate whatever you can to help save the lives of others in memory of Paul, an amazing person, loved and lost by many.
