We raise funds and run events to support young talented British Athletes

Story

I have run a little all my life and kept myself fit, but running a marathon...an ambition I never thought I would achieve.  Well this year that is going to be put right!

Ron Pickering - the legend that was the BBC sports commentator and host of the infamous "We are the Champions". He died in 1991 and this fund was set up in his honour by his wife, Jean - it is dedicated to assisting aspiring young athletes who have shown by their attitude and dedication that they possess the qualities which will ensure the growth and protection of the sport.  Every podium finisher at London 2012 had, at one time, been supported by the fund.

Who cannot admire a man credited with the following  phrases: "Athletics is special because it caters for the young and the old, the fat and the thin, the best and the beginner", and "sport is the most precious commodity we have to hand onto the next generation".  That does it for me and will push me through the dark nights pounding the streets to be ready for April 24.
