Why am I doing this ?

In August 2014 , I was diagnosed with stage 2 tonsil cancer.

I was told it was treatable , but the next 6 months would be tough , and they were.

I had a number of teeth removed , an operation to put a tube  in my stomach , because I would not be able eat for 6 months. PET scans , CT scans and Ultrasound scans. Two full days of chemotherapy and Radiotherapy 5 days a week for 7 weeks. It sounds nothing when you summarise it in one paragraph  , but believe me its hard going.

So here I am , in remission , five and a half stone lighter. Still going for check ups, but in reality through the other side.

Throughout my treatment , care and Consultations I received first class National Health Care from Consultants , Nurses , Radiographers , Dieticians, Speech Therapists, Psychologists and Pharmacists to name but a few. To these people me and my family will be eternally grateful.

I am one of the lucky ones , a lot of people I have met have gone through worse , and some didn't make it.

So this is my chance to make a difference , to put something back , to help contribute towards better care for other Patients and their families .
