We raise awareness to promote altruistic kidney donation

Story

On the 4th February I will donate my kidney altruistically (to a stranger) and will make history as my brother also did the same three years ago.  We will become the first ever siblings to donate organs to strangers.

Our story appeared in the Daily Record and ITV news and we were also nominated alongside some amazing people for the Daily Record Hero Awards 2014.  We are currently involved in a documentary for Organ Donation which will be on the BBC and my donation will be filmed.

I held charity events last year which were fantastic in the Goodyear Social Club in Drumchapel.  The first was an afternoon with Andy Goram and Frank McAvennie.  It was absolutely fantastic and turn out was tremendous.  We raised over £3000.  My second event was in the Clydebank Town Hall and was a Dance night with Glasgows top Club DJs including the fantastic George Bowie from Clyde 1.  George played a fantastic GBXeperience set which blew the crowd of around 450 away.  Over the two events and with the help of The Edrington Group I was able to donate just over £15,000 to Give A Kidney.

I am looking to hold another charity dance which will be bigger and better than the last.  I am currently organising this and will have another fantastic line-up of amazing DJs ready to rock the Town Hall.  This night will be in the theme of Doctors and Nurses to fit in with what myself and brother have done.  This will be another night not to be missed.

I am looking to raise another fantastic amount and would love to be able to send Give A Kidney a lot more this year.  Please give as much as you can as I appreciate all the help I can get.  You can also check out my website which I created myself.  www.onesenough.org

There are almost 6,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant, but the UK performs just 2,500 kidney transplantations a year. We aim to raise awareness of altruistic living kidney donation, to support those considering this type of donation and to publicise why more are needed.
