Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My Dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer in April 2015. We knew that Dad was never going to be cured, but we also could not have predicted the force at which the disease took a hold of him.
Sadly in his last few weeks Dad was extremely poorly & uncomfortable, & a decision was taken to request a bed at St Benedicts. Dad was moved to the hospice on Wednesday 20th January 2016, & the care he received here from all nurses, staff & volunteers was a different level. So professional, yet friendly & efficient.
Dad only had 6 days in St Benedicts as he sadly passed away, very peacefully on Tuesday 26th January 2016, but Dad was happy & content in there, knowing that everything was being done in their power to tend to all his needs.
Whilst in St Benedicts, Dad & I had a few conversations regarding how he could raise funds to build another Hospice, & while that may not be achievable (yet!) I know he would be very happy knowing that any donations in his memory are received by them.
