In June 2010 I leave Derby, UK: one man, one bike, one camera and one
long ride around the globe. This epic journey will take between 2-3
years, crossing 5 continents over 30,000 miles through some of the most
beautiful, yet most difficult cycling terrain in the world.
I
believe that even with global ideals and goals, it is crucial not to
overlook the local issues which affect the communities on our own
doorsteps. With this in mind, I am raising money for the Derbyshire
Children's Holiday Centre.
The centre
provides holidays for children in Derbyshire between the ages of 7 and
13 whose lives are such that they will benefit from a change to, and
respite from their daily lives. By being provided with quality
residential holidays, the children are given a
start to their long term development, self esteem and aspirations which
they would not otherwise have the opportunity of. The experience creates
a positive environment for the children, which
they are subsequently able to relate to within their daily lives and
circumstances.
Given the funding, the centre can offer many
more children the opportunities they deserve, so please dig deep and
donate now. The initial donation that I have added myself represents the budget that
I will be living on per day, £5.00.
