In June this year Marc and I will be undertaking one of the longest and toughest historic endurance car rallies’ known to man in a 1967 Ford Mustang. The adventure takes us from The Great Wall of China to Paris,13,490 kilometres in 34 days through Mongolia, Siberia, Russia and Europe, crossing the greatest wilderness on earth where a car can be driven, the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. By driving half way across the world, we are attempting to replicate the spirit and style of the 1907 pioneers.

In pursuit of this challenge, I have set up a sponsorship page to raise funds for children affected by HIV at the SOS Children’s Village in Bindura, Zimbabwe. This established and respected organisation aims to alleviate hardship and maintain family stability so that children displaced in the region will have a safe, protected and loving home to grow up. The social centres ensure that children have access to essential health and nutritional services, as well as education. I have visited the village and seen firsthand the wonderful work the SOS mothers do in providing guidance on income-generating skills and counselling, as well as psychological support where it is urgently needed. Some of you will already be aware of this charity where I donate all the proceeds from my novels.
