Outward Bound Trust
The Outward Bound Trust was founded in 1941 and since then has benefited more than a million people. The trust helps young people realise their potential through outdoor learning, creating supportive and challenging environments in which young people can learn about themselves and see, perhaps for the first time, what they might truly be capable of achieving in life.
Ty Gobaith
Based in Conwy, Ty Gobaith Hospice provides care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families, all across Mid and North Wales, in a friendly and homely environment. It offers a range of services including respite and end-of-life care at the hospices or within the family home, it also provides support such as counselling, advocacy and the promotion of children, young people’s and carers’ rights.
Plas Derw Trust Ltd
Plas Derw Trust helps young people experience and learn about the natural world. As well as discovering their own talents and abilities, children also develop social and team working skills in an enjoyable way through practical experiences including creative activities and survival skills. During the school holidays the trust runs holiday clubs which are extremely popular with local families.
Flintshire Foodbank
Flintshire Foodbank provides emergency food supplies to people and families in crisis throughout Flintshire. It works in partnership with local professional care workers who refer their service users, with a food voucher, to the Foodbank centre where they are given food supplies, refreshments and signposted to other agencies that may be able to help. It assists existing agencies working with distressed and destitute people by accepting bulk food donations, as gives the public the opportunity to contribute to a local initiative in a simple and practical way.
Age Connects North Wales Central
Age Connects provide support to, and upholds the interest of, older people living in Conwy and Denbighshire. It offers a range of services for older people including IT Tuition and Welfare Benefits programmes. The IT Tuition helps older people gain valuable skills and confidence in working on the computer, giving them more independence online with activities such as shopping, online banking and keeping in contact with family members.
The Welfare Benefits service helps maximise the income of older people who are struggling to meet bills. The staff and volunteers provide a bespoke home visiting service which offers a full benefits and fuel poverty check and signposting to services if other needs are identified.
All giving circle donations will be pooled, matched (up to a total of £5,000) and divided equally amongst the five charities and awarded in grants by the Community Foundation in Wales.
