Story
Six years ago, I became extremely ill with chronic kidney disease. I was off work for nine months, and it was a very long and hard recovery. There were numerous ups and downs and many admissions to the North Hampshire Hospital. The staff at North Hampshire Hospital worked extremely hard to make me well again. Since coming through this, I have turned my life around, giving up smoking, cutting down alcohol, eating better and getting fit. In 2012 I took up running and since then I have taken part in around 50 races. I have always wanted to run the London Marathon and as its such a popular event, which raises a lot of money for charity, I see it as an opportunity to give something back. I have always felt indebted to the NHS and the staff and North Hampshire Hospital for the care I received. The North Hampshire Medical Fund raises money for much needed medical equipment at the North Hampshire Hospital, so fundraising for this charity will go a long way to repaying the care I received and helping others in the future
