Story
Project Zambia is a partnership between the University of St. Andrews and the Zambian Non-Government Organisation, Sport In Action. The project is a service trip lasting six weeks where four students from the University of St. Andrews will work with Kazemba Primary School to enhance educational experience.
The team includes:
Staff: Cat Wilson and Samantha Lister
Students: Allie Hypes, Ojas Sharma, Flora Kuo and Johanna Ojamäe
Kazemba Primary School is located in the rural Chongwe Province of Zambia. Kazemba is a village of poverty; approximately half of the 300 children in the School are identified as vulnerable and single or double orphans. Each student’s progress onto secondary school depends on passing end of year exams. Whether or not a student advances into secondary school is immensely pivotal to a feasible future. Our team’s mission is to enrich Kazemba Primary School’s approach to education with our individual perspectives. We will be assisting in teaching English, Math, Computer Science, Geography, Physical education, Religion, and Music classes from grades 1-9. The team’s goal is to share their knowledge born of an advantageous educational experience.
Specifically, our familiarity with the English language and technology are of utmost importance to ensuring the successful trajectory of each student’s education. Donations will sponsor our endeavour to enhance the sustainability of Kazemba Primary School’s education and provide the students with the proper skills to lead promising lives.
