In memory of Malcolm Whales

Story

Damien Whales, James Thorpe, Doug Bentley and Tad Chapman are raising money for The Malcolm Whales Foundation and Action Medical Research for Children.

Damien's Dad, Malcolm Whales was only 55 years old when he died as a result of Cancer. He was a man who was full of life and always tried to enjoy everything to its maximum. He tragically did not get to enjoy his life for long enough and those close to him will miss numerous years of shared happiness.

Those of you who have been affected by Cancer will understand the cruel and ruthless way in which it does not discriminate between its victims. The knock on effect is maybe most devastating for all who knew and loved them.

In Malcolm's memory we now raise money through a number of charity events each year. We have rasied £75,000 over the past 6 years.

The Challenge

The team will be attempting to complete cycling, climbing and canoeing sections of the challenge starting just before sunrise and aiming to finish before sunset – racing the sun! We will cycle approximately 50 miles (80km), hike to the summit of England’s second highest mountain – Helvellyn at 3,116ft (950m) and canoe a 3km course on Lake Thirlmere.

For more information on each Charity please see:

£2000 of the money raised will be sent to Action Medical Research.
