Story
Welcome to Rachel and David's Just Giving page!
We have decided to set up this page as an alternative to a wedding gift list.
Although there is a lot of excitement (mostly on Rachel's part) in going round John Lewis with the long sought-after scanner and adding beautiful item after beautiful item to our wedding list, we have reconsidered and decided that 1 toaster is enough, we have no room to store any more wine glasses and in reality, no one is actually going to buy us that 80" television.
Instead we have decided to raise money for a charity that is close to our hearts, in particular to Dave's heart, who has worked with the Teams4U charity on many occasions. (photos attached)
Teams4U is a charity that aims to make a difference in the lives of children around the world who find themselves in desperate and hopeless situations. They strive to give the children a second chance by helping them to recognise and appreciate their own self worth.
By doing this Teams4U takes teams of volunteers overseas several times a year to make a difference to these children's lives. This is done in a variety of ways, by building classrooms, libraries, bathrooms or anything else that will make life a bit easier. Some of the locations Teams4U visits is Uganda, Romania, Sierra Leone and Cambodia.
Teams4U was set up by Dave Cooke, who has over 20 years working with international relief and development. In 1990 Dave was moved by the needs of the Romanian children on the TV, so he put teams together and took much needed aid to Romanian orphanages. Dave founded Teams4U in 2006 to allow many others the opportunity and experience of working and supporting vulnerable children and their families.
After working a lot with Dave Cooke over the years, Dave counts him now as a friend, someone we admire tremendously for all his hard work and dedication.
