Story
One of the most precious gifts a person can give is the gift of opportunity, the opportunity
to be educated, the opportunity to succeed, the opportunity to have a happy, healthy, safe,
and sustaining life.
At the Robert Shitima Primary School and the Markit Secondary School, the Zamcog Organization has enabled some of Zambia’s most impoverished and at-risk children to have a life that would otherwise be impossible. The schools offer a sense of normalcy in a reality that is often riddled with extreme poverty resulting in much less than desirable living circumstances, and little chances for growth in any facet of life. Like any not for profit organization one of the most vital and often challenging aspects of keeping the organization afloat is funding. Zamcog has been blessed with many generous and passionate advocates throughout the years, yet it is still a constant struggle to maintain all of the expenses for the schools, the children, and its employees.
This upcoming September Zamcog is hosting a ladies only trip to the schools, as well as an adventurous white water rafting excursion down the great Zambezi River. This trip is dedicated to empowering the young women in Zambia, and as an effort to support them the women taking part in this adventure will have to work together to overcome their own obstacles and fears while rafting down one of the most challenging rapids in the world. There is not very much that can compare to many of the life struggles these girls have endured, but as an effort to assimilate a feeling slightly similar, the rafting will force everyone to challenge themselves both mentally and physically.
The women involved are working to raise funds to help provide educational supplies for the children, paying for the dormitories, which the children reside in, meals, medical expenses, agricultural maintenance, along with a plethora of other necessities that are required in order to keep the schools functioning efficiently and effectively. Any type of donation, whether it be large or small contributes to Zamcog’s quest in providing innocent children with a chance to experience a life that most of us take for granted. Help us to pave paths for a happy and healthy future for these children, through the seeds of knowledge and self-confidence, which are planted by education.
