Thanks for taking the time to visit this page. I took a look at the news today, like everyday and came across the image I enclose above. Besides the obvious distress it causes, it is just a taster for what is going on out there beyond the shores of 'Great Britain'
I don't feel great today looking at such images and how people who flee their own countries through no fault of their own can meet such a fate. Policies, which have not changed in generations before this child and many others have met their untimely and tragic fate, are to blame. The biggest migrations of people's since the world wars, yet as a world we have not learnt from our supposed past. It all makes for tragic outcomes. World leaders sit on their hands, close their eyes and brush it all away. In our country they would have you focus on stigmatising issues closer to home and against each other.
These people have fought against untold odds and arguably battled more riskier scenarios before they were left stranded in the seas by these so called nations. In some cases they would simply capture these people and tow them back out to sea. For a 'modern day' world, the inaction is deplorable.
I've often been a sit back from afar, shake my head and say my peace type, however I just don't think it cuts it anymore. I picked International Refugee Trust as this is an international problem, one I hope any money raised towards will assist countries such as Syria, Libya, Iraq where these images are a daily reality.
Whilst the likes of Islamic State are allowed to toy with the livelihood of large swathes of the Middle East with devastating consequences we have countries convincing us the threat is being countered..
Based on the evidence above. I think certain parts of the world are kidding themselves. Every life matters.
