Region 23b are looking to raise a massive 10k in order to support the foundationand set up a local Bright Space, our philosophy is “if you only tackle what you know you will never grow” and we will be injecting this attitude to all of the challenges we take on in 2014.

Joan Elms started work at Acorns BP on 21 June 2011, as lunch cover within our preschool area. Joan became like a mum to us all and fitted into our Bright Horizons family team with ease. Joan loved to cook and would bake various types of food, one speciality being shortbread, and there would always be enough to go round for the team. Joan was loved dearly by us all, the children and the families and was known as ‘Joanie’ especially to the children. Sadly, in February this year, Joan was signed off work due to illness which then lead to her being diagnosed with cancer. Joan was told she had 3 to 6 months to live, but sadly after 8 weeks, Joan passed away on the 18 of May. She will be sadly missed by us all, but will always be remembered in our hearts.  We are hoping to raise enough money for a Bright Space in Joan’s memory.

About the charity

We create Bright Spaces for vulnerable children and families. Bright Spaces are play environments in women's refuges, homeless shelters, child protection interview suites and prisons. They provide children in crisis with an opportunity to play, learn, and heal from trauma in a place of safety.
