Derek (HB) Howard Budd, Head of Welfare at SSAFA Forces Help and Honorary Steward at Westminster Abbey, died peacefully in hospital in his sleep on New Year's Day, having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer early in December.

HB had previously served as a Major in the NAAFI, including a number of postings overseas, and was a Blue Badge Tourist Guide.

He was loved by many and will be very much missed by all who knew him.

In line with HB's wishes, donations made on this site are made in lieu of flowers at his funeral, which will take place on Tuesday 17 January at St Margaret's Church, London.
