In August 2016 we will be embarking on a journey down the East coast of India in a small motorised rickshaw.

The challenge will be to cover roughly 3500km within three-weeks in a glorified lawnmower with a top speed of 30mph. The event – known as the Rickshaw Run – consists of around 80 teams travelling the length of India. There is no support, no mechanics, no route, and no rules! We will be covering 100% of the trip costs ourselves. All donations will go directly to the two charities we would like to support:

1. HEAL: www.healcharity.org

As this event is in India we wanted to choose a charity based there that would really make a difference.

Despite news stories highlighting the growth in India's economy and the new wealth this is creating, the need to help India's children is becoming even more important. Child labour is a massive problem in India and in Andhra Pradesh in particular.

HEAL currently has a number of projects including the Heal Children’s Village in Guntur, Paradise Village, currently under construction in Thotapalli, and our Poverty Trap scheme.

They are committed to expanding over the coming years with further projects, with the aim of helping up to 10,000 children escape the poverty trap by 2020.

Heal's aim is to provide Health and Education for All, and our aim is to raise £500 for them


2. Cool Earth: www.coolearth.org
This is the official charity of The Adventurists- The crazy kids who are the organisers behind the Rickshaw Run. This is a charity dedicated to restoring and maintaining forested land in urban areas around the world. It's a really effective charity and an excellent way of enriching people’s lives and teaching communities about the importance of conservation. We have committed to raising £500 for CoolEarth.
