Story
I was shocked in December 2015 to hear the news that my uncle Richard Tiffin had suddenly passed away at the age of 53.
For those that knew him, we were all aware that he battled with Cancer for many years and conducted himself with the utmost dignity until the very end.
I had already planned to do this ultra endurance race, but decided in December that i would attempt it in his memory and try to raise money for the local hospital.
The race circumnavigates Mont Blanc, passes through France, Switzerland and Italy, is 330km long and is conducted in one day.
It starts at 04:30hrs and I will be riding over 9 mountains with a total amount of vertical ascent of almost 9000 Metres. This is as high as Mount Everest or over 5.5 miles into the air. Some of the longer mountain climbs last for over 20 miles without any flat or downhill.
I expect it will take me around 19 hours of riding from the 04:30 start in order to finish, and this is dependant on me crossing the mandatory time cuts around the course in enough time.
The event is billed as "The worlds toughest one day bike race"
In short, its very difficult !
So, if you know anyone who has ever suffered from this disease or if you think what I'm doing is worthy then please donate. The funds will go directly to the Chemotherapy Ward at UHND. It will be appreciated by many people both now and in the future.
Lastly, if you could share this link on Facebook and spread the word i would appreciate it :-)
thanks
Ross.
