We deliver water safety education to prevent drowning and save lives

Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page!

On the 16th July 2016 I will begin my journey from John o'Groats down to Lands End by bicycle (approximately 1000 miles) in 9 days. This has always been on my bucket list, and I now have the opportunity to actually do it!

I am going to be raising money for the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS). RLSS is the Drowning Prevention Charity and the UK's leading provider of water safety and drowning prevention education (http://www.rlss.org.uk/).

Around 400 people needlessly die from drowning in the UK every year and thousands more suffer injury, some life-changing, through near-drowning experiences. Putting these figures into context one person dies every 20 hours in the UK and drowning is the leading cause of accidental death of children in the UK.

My family have been a part of the RLSS for as long as I can remember, giving up time to get involved in fundraising events, local club meets, and even competing. All of which is aimed at spreading the word and raising awareness to the importance of drowning prevention education.

My employer Amec Foster Wheeler has agreed to match fund up to my goal, so please donate what you can knowing your contribution will benefit a worthwhile charity.
