Story
On the 17th July 2016 I shall be starting the 226km long UK Ironman in Bolton to raise money for Rotary International and the Institute of Cancer Research.
Having never swum 3.9km; cycled 180km or run 42.2km I can promise you I have a lot of training to do to be able to do them all one after another. I would really appreciate any donations you can spare to motivate me through the months of training and the 14 hour long race day. If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to contact me at robertdibble@live.co.uk .
Rotary International, a charity that my great grandfather used to be president of, collects and distributes funds for charities and good causes raised by individuals and organisations. Half of the funds raised will go to Rotary International’s designated causes (Children’s Hospices; Life Education Centres; Cancer Charities; Air Ambulances; and Services Charities). For more information on these please go to http://www.rotarycharityfundraisers.org/causes_2016.php?sid=fb100a72a0854c001f6ffd6e72237a76 .
The other half of the funds shall go to the Institute of Cancer Research which is one of the world’s most influential cancer research organisations. Of my family members that have been unfortunate enough to get cancer, all have been able to successfully keep it at bay; largely due to the medical treatments available. Unfortunately this is not the same the world over and I would like to do what I can to support the Institute of Cancer Research in their fight to beat cancer.
