Story
1,000 miles in 10 days on a solo cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats from the 14th-23rd of Aug'12 - my toughest Shoulder2Shoulder challenge to support a brave little girl Yasmin Murray (4 years old), who is currently battling a rare condition known as Sturge-Weber syndrome, and in memory of my Mum Alice Parker who passed away on Dec 13th 2009, following a brave battle with cancer.
The theme of this year's ride is 'Miles to Remember', where I invite you to sponsor me from as little as £2 for a mile for a special person who you would like to remember. Please let me know the name or names of the people you want to be remembered and together we will dedicate one or more miles to them. All donations will go directly to buy specialist equipment for Yasmin, to improve her quality of life. Yasmin's current condition causes her to suffer in a number of ways including a staggering 31,000 seizures since she was 18 months old. Every day she has between 20-200 seizures. If that wasn’t enough, Yasmin also suffers from Glaucoma, an eye condition and a Port Wine Stain birth mark. She is awaiting major surgery to ease her condition.
To support Yasmin's cause, the charity I have selected this year is one for which my Mother was a co-founder, the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Cerebral Palsy Association, which is a local charity run by a team of volunteers. This charity has chosen to support Yasmin in her brave battle and to raise awareness of Sturge-Weber Syndrome.
