We support disadvantaged young people to reduce offending & improve opportunities

Story

I have been working with Carney's Community as a coach for nearly a year now, and every time I go to the session I see a lot of people working hard and having fun taking part in the boxing sessions.

Most recently I have been working with two of the participants that attend the boxing sessions, both of which are permanently in wheelchairs after both being in terrible accidents. The way the take on life since their accidents, and do not let the wheelchairs dictate to them what they do has inspired me. Both of them have been working hard at the boxing sessions and have not let their wheelchairs stop them from taking part and making great progress in their boxing. Their attitude and determination is what has inspired me to take part in this challenge.

I will be spending two days in a wheelchair, and attempting to carry on with my day to day life in order to see and experience the everyday struggle that these two take on. I will stick by my normal routine and will have to deal with sleeping, showering, eating, cooking and looking after my kids whilst wheelchair bound. I will still have school runs and responsibilities to keep, and I do not think it will be easy but I am committed to do it properly and complete the challenge.

I am fundraising whilst doing this for Carney's Community. A charity in Battersea that works with disadvantaged young people and has helped the two young men in wheelchairs that I mentioned earlier. All the money I raise will go towards Carney's Community and they have committed to spend the money received on specialist equipment for the  boxing gym that can be used by those that are disabled or in wheelchairs. See more of what they do at www.carneyscommunity.org
