Story
Hi everyone and welcome to my JustGiving page!
I am one sixth of Moosey's Mad Marathon Men (MMMM for short).
We want to fundraise in memory of our great friend, Tom 'Moosey' Moulton.
Moose tragically, and unexpectedly, passed away on the 27th July 2015, aged 29. Following this, I immediately wanted to do something in his memory to give back to others. I wanted to undertake a challenge and push myself to the limits of endurance - the London marathon seemed like the perfect idea. Along the way, this idea snowballed and we are now a team of 6 misfits who all have the same driving force behind them - raising money in memory of a brilliant man!
By sponsoring me you will be donating to 2 very worthwhile charities; Southend YMCA and Epilepsy Research UK. Southend YMCA have agreed to split equally the donations with ERUK.
As a group we will be raising money for three charities in total, to the much underfunded work of Epilepsy Research UK, and to continue Tom’s legacy at Southend YMCA to support homeless young people and for the national movement at YMCA England.
Tom suffered from epilepsy since he was a child but never allowed his condition to let him live anything but a full life. He never wanted to be treated differently and never made a fuss even when he’d been unwell. We want to help the underfunded work of Epilepsy Research UK, in the hope we may be able to support and assist the lives of those that suffer from it.
Housing and the issue of homelessness amongst vulnerable youngsters became a passion for Tom during his time working at Southend YMCA, he recognised the huge need in the area for suitable accommodation. He worked tirelessly to fundraise, increase awareness and housing provision for local young people.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add GiftAid to your donation if you are a UK taxpayer, it will add 20% to your donation at no extra cost
