We help people with disabilities in Africa to get artificial limbs and limb supports

Story

11 of us are doing the Hackney half on Sunday 8 May...perhaps not the biggest challenge for some, for others of us this will be the furtherest we've ever run in our lives.

But so much more impressive than us dragging our asses 13.1 miles is that for Rachael's mum Catriona, the finish line will be mile 321 of 500 that she is competitively running in this, her 50th year.

Catriona's 500 miles is raising money for her friends charity which buys prosthetic limbs for people who need them in countries that can't provide them.

So while us getting our legs a bit tired might not be the greatest challenge ever, think of Catriona's 500 miles and think of people who could really benefit from a donation.

Give us some money for running and help some people back on their way to walking. It really is an amazing charity and we would greatly appreciate anything you can spare.

500 miles helps people to access and afford prosthetic, orthotic and surgical services today - but, through training and education, it is also trying to develop the future capacity of these services in Malawi and Zambia. Visit www.500miles.co.uk for more information.

RCN SC038205
500 miles aims to support the delivery of prosthetic and orthotic services and surgery which promotes mobility and function for amputees and other disabled people in Malawi and Zambia. Prostheses are devices which substitute for body parts which are missing and orthoses are devices, like splints, which support body parts which are present but which are weak or do not function properly. 500 miles helps people to access and afford prosthetic, orthotic and surgical services today - but, through training and education, it is also trying to develop the future capacity of these services in Malawi and Zambia.
