Story
We are running the Bright10 run on October 16 for the charity Pseudomyxoma Survivor.
In March 2016, my Dad, Andy Lillywhite, unexpectedly died at the age of 53, after suffering for 4 years with pseudomyxoma peritonei, or PMP for short.
PMP is an extremely rare type of appendix cancer. It grows and spreads the disease around the body undetected. Major surgery, known as Mother of All Surgeries or MOAS, is required, which results in many weeks in hospital. For more information on PMP, click here - http://www.pseudomyxomasurvivor.org/pmp-information/#
Because PMP is so rare (there is around a 1 in a 1,000,000 chance of getting it), there is little information about it out there, meaning it is often misdiagnosed. There is also not a lot of help out there for people suffering with the disease, and their families. This is where Pseudomyxoma Survivor come in.
Around 25 of us are taking part in the Bright10 run in October, which is why you may be reading this even if you don't know me, or didn't know Andy. PS is a great charity, that would really appreciate and put to good use any money that we can raise in doing this run.
Thank you so much for coming on our page, and reading the story. We would all be so grateful if you could give anything to the cause, and help us meet our goal.
