Story
Hello everyone, I am running another marathon!
I am doing this as the training really is such fun and the sensation of hot pokers on your thighs is so rewarding.
More accurately, I’m doing it to raise a modest amount for a charity dear to my heart… The Globe Players
http://www.theglobeplayers.org/
"The Globe Players" are 50 years' old this year. They are a dedicated and impressive group of actors who travel the country delivering exceptional performances to young children. These performances teach young kids about the life and works of Shakespeare.
For some of these children, The Globe Players’ performance is the only live theatre, let alone Shakespeare, they will see during their education. So what these guys do is important.
And the kids love them for it. I have seen first-hand their faces light up and the excitement these performances rouse.
But school budgets are stretched, and so in order for their
great work to continue The Globe Players have to fund raise to subsidise their costs... and this is where we come in.
Whilst Shakespeare will not re-home or feed anyone, it can help to offer a different perspective to children.... especially in less affluent parts of the country.
As Churchill himself observed.... If he had cut funding to the arts during World War II (as he was urged to do) what exactly were we fighting
for?
The Globe Players have taken Shakespeare into schools for 50 years this year, giving thousands of children every year access to live theatre that truly educates.
Please help me to support them – every little really will help. It’s not a big target.
Thank you.
