Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are planning to go to Burma to assist "Burmadent" in December, 2014 for 3 weeks.
I was born in Burma and in my late teens moved to England with my parents. I haven't been back to Burma since moving here. Now almost 30 years later I am a wife, a Mum and a Dental Hygienist. I gained my Dental qualifications from King's College Hospital, London in1995. I work at Oasis Dental Care Ltd in Wantage and a lovely NHS practice in Wootton, near Abingdon. Both practices are in Oxfordshire.
For many years, I didn't feel ready to go back and visit Burma but in recent years I had a very strong sense that I should go back to my old country and give something back. I came across this amazing Dental charity called "Burmadent" and I knew I had to get involved.
We are planning to go to Burma as a family. My husband, Steve who is a Hydrologist and equally excited to go Burma, it's the first time for him. He'll be a general helper to the team but will also do some research on improving drinking water supplies for the orphanages we visit. Our identical twin boys Joe and Dan will be 16 by the time we go to Burma. Their ambition and aims is to go to a Dental school after A levels and become Dentists. They are so excited to assist me and the team anyway they can to gain some wonderful work experience which will be so valuable for them. As for me, I am truly excited to use my professional skills as a Hygienist. I will be educating the children how to look after their teeth and will be doing some preventative work by applying Fluoride varnish on their teeth. All in all we are very excited.
I am raising money to buy return plane tickets and accommodation for myself. I am hoping to donate some to the charity too.
I would like to sincerely thank Sharon and Henrik for setting up this amazing Dental charity in Burma.
I know for sure that this trip is going to be very emotional for me on diferrent levels. I also know that this opportunity is certainly a gift from "God" and I am to use it well.
