Story
We are raising funds for St Herbert's School who are looking to raise a total of £30,000 for a new sensory room.
On 26th August, Astrid and Pete will set off on a 'pilgrimage' from St Herbert's School Chadderton to St Herbert's Island Derwentwater. The total distance is almost exactly 100 miles through East Lancashire, up through the Forest of Bowland, through South Cumbria and right into the heart of the Lake District with the last 200m by rowing boat.
We aim to complete the walk in just over 4 days with 4 stop-overs along the way (costs covered by us personally).
St Herbert was an Anglo-Saxon Priest born c.600AD who lived the majority of his life on a small island in Derwentwater, living off lake-fish and vegetables. Evidence remains of his hermitage with remnants of a tiny chapel and living cell on the island.
