Story
I am running the Birmingham Half Marathon on the 16th October for Move Charity - a charity set up by international athlete Gemma Hillier, a cancer survivor.
Since Move started 7 young people between the ages of 7 & 24 are diagnosed with cancer every single day and have to face an extremely tough journey. For young people there is so much thrown at them both physically and mentally during their treatment and it doesn’t just stop there. Life goes on after cancer and Move aims to support young people as much as possible to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle both during and after treatment so they can work towards getting their lives back on track and look forward to a brighter future.
Through the power of sport and physical activity they provide young people who have or are recovering from cancer with individual 1:1 physical activity support, guidance and advice. They aim to enable children and young people to engage with physical activity in a positive way, helping build strong relationships with exercise and create healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
