Story
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
We were looking for an unique project this Ramadan for us to take part in as sisters once again, which would bring each of us a lot of hasanaat inshaa'Allah!
A while ago the husband of one of the Sisters' Project sisters went to Sudan, where a well was opened (The Well of Mercy). It was an amazing experience to see live the blessings of the sadaqah people had given back in the UK. He met a lady who used to wait three days in the queue just to collect water from a UN run well. These people are refugees in the most remote areas of Sudan and while wells are being constructed by charities in many places in the world, these people are forgotten. That’s the reality. We wished we had raised money for the Well of Mercy and be part of this sadaqah jaariyah! Now, we’ve just heard there’s another opportunity to help these forgotten refugees in the East of Sudan!
Our beloved Ethar Relief (a small, very dedicated
charity) is seeking to construct a deep water well in one of the most remote
areas in Sudan. Due to the scarcity of water, drilling needs to be done 400 ft
below the surface of the earth (normal wells are only 60 ft). This is combined
with the fact that the refugee camp is located in an inaccessible location which means that the cost of this well is £43k. The people in this area are such humble and beautiful people and imagine if we can get the amount together and provide water to over 15 000 sisters, brothers and children who else would be abandoned!
About £15 000 has already been raised, and together with a small group of others, we have the target to raise £2000 by 17 July, thereby ensuring that construction can begin on the well immediately inshaa'Allah.
This is a chance to be part of a small group of us enabling to construct the well together. The well will be called the Well of Uthman. It’ll be named after the Companion Uthman ibn Affan radiyallahu anhu who purchased the only sweet water well in Madinah from an unscrupulous businessman who had capitalised on a drought that had hit the city. Although the well was worth approximately 5000-6000 Dirhams, he sold the well for a total of 43,000 Dirhams. Uthman was not concerned about the high price but motivated by the reward promised by the Messenger of Allah for the one who purchased the well so suffering people could have access to water, a reward no less than Paradise.
Imagine
being part of construction a well under such difficult circumstances and how
beautiful would it be to do it together as sisters!
We pray that each sister who participates will gain the Mercy of Allah and will be secured admission into Paradise, ameen!
It takes just 20 dedicated sisters to give £100!
Take this chance now to give as much as you can, so it will be multiplied for you in these hours of Ramadan, who says you will see tomorrow?
Sisters for the well of Uthman, let’s hit our target asap inshaa’Allah like we did all those times before by the grace of Allah!
