Story
I rescued Albert as a 10 week old foal to save him from a miserable and dangerous existence. He was too young to be away from mum and tethered in mud to iron railings with no feed or water. He was terrified and weak and missing his mummy, so I contacted Hope Pastures and they agreed to make a space for him. He arrived the very next morning in a transit van and was grateful for a nice deep bed, some love and food. He needed feeding milk pellets and foal feed, and soon was suckling on anything he could as he was desperate for his mum. Our old horse Henry was used as a Nanny for Albert and even let Albert pretend to suckle him :/
Albert has grown into a beautiful 3 year old but as he hadn't developed as he should have so Hope Pastures had to have him operated on to remove a testicle that was lodged in his abdomen, meaning that he was becoming frustrated and full of testosterone. As Hope Pastures have a strict 'No Breeding' Policy and Albert needs a new home there was no choice but to send him to the horse hospital to have his little boys op. The Vets praised Albert's bravery and said he was easily the best behaved Colt they have ever operated on. The Operation cost Hope Pastures £1073 which is still to be paid and worryingly there are not enough donations for running costs at the moment, so paying Albert's bill off is a massive strain on Hope Pastures funding.
It also leaves me feeling like it's my duty to help to cover the costs of his operation as Hope Pastures were kind enough to admit Albert in the first place. If I hadn't had a safe place to take him to, I would have had to leave him to his fate and goodness knows where he would be now.
I don't regret saving Albert and he is worth every penny, he can now look forward to a long and happy life and this would not have been possible without the amazing Hope Pastures. Please consider donating to help those who are helping horses like Albert :)
